Our team

The unique individuals sharing the same passion for  lysosomal dynamics in neurodegenerative diseases

DEI statement

At the Bonet-Ponce lab, we are dedicated to building a vibrant and inclusive community that champions diversity in all its forms. Our mission is to cultivate an environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences thrive and contribute to transformative research.

We recognize that diversity fuels innovation, and we are committed to fostering a culture that values and respects every member of our laboratory community. Our goal is to actively promote equity and inclusion, creating opportunities for individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other characteristics. Through a commitment to diversity, we aim to enrich the research landscape at The Ohio State University by embracing a variety of ideas, approaches, and talents.

Our laboratory seeks to be a model of collaboration and excellence, where the collective strength of our diverse team propels us towards groundbreaking discoveries and advancements. In pursuit of scientific excellence, we aspire to address complex challenges in ways that are representative of the diverse world we serve. Together, we strive to contribute to the inclusive advancement of knowledge, positively impacting both the scientific community and society at large.

Tsion Tegicho

Research Assistant

I was born and raised in Hawassa, which is in the South region of Ethiopia. My educational journey led me to the United States for high school. I graduated from Carthage College with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience in 2023. Before moving to Ohio State University, I worked as a research specialist at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine. I am interested in learning more about the human brain. I will contribute to the study of how lysosomal dynamics contribute to Parkinson’s disease.  Outside the lab, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Irene Rozenberg

Undergraduate Student

I’m an undergraduate student from Cleveland, Ohio studying molecular genetics at OSU. Specifically, I have an interest in understanding neurological disorders from a molecular perspective. In the future, I hope to pursue these interests through a PhD and career in research. Aside from research, I enjoy reading, playing tennis, and consuming coffee in various forms.
